Government leadership vital in combatting climate change

Government leadership vital in combatting climate change

CNN morning news, 31 January 2007

With climate change dominating the CNN morning news, Dr Paul Toyne was interviewed live by newsreader Monita Rajpal about the UN Intergovernmental Panel meeting on climate change, and allegations of suppression of scientific findings by the US administration.

Dr Toyne explained that there was irrefutable evidence provided by independent scientists working across the globe that climate change was happening as a result of man's impact - the burning of fossil fuels. The real question is what to do about it.

Dr Toyne explained that climate change was no longer an environmental issue; it was a social issue which threatens the livelihoods and the security of nations.  Leadership from governments is therefore vital.
