Global Pharmaceutical Company – executive quarterly consultancy

Client challenge

A senior member of the client management team required a challenging and fresh perspective on issues and potential risks in the industry, essentially creating a space for blue sky thinking on business strategy. Article 13 were already working with the client on wider risk identification. However, the client wanted to set up a regular forum for blue sky thinking.

What did we do?

Article 13 carried out regular scanning for emerging themes and early warning signals, on behalf of the client. From these themes, and using the clients own objectives, topics are identified collaboratively. Article 13 then carries out the full desk research of the topic, including benchmarking and case studies.

To make the process as participative as possible, Article 13 carries out key informant interviews with sources from the scanning and desk research. These interviews provide a touchstone of up and coming issues not yet on the public agenda.

During a half day long workshop, Article 13 presents the data and findings, which is followed by a full debate.

Whilst strategy development was not an object of the programme, blue sky thinking enabled strategy to emerge – Article 13 essentially act as the facilitator to develop the clients knowledge and understanding potentially business critical issues.

How did we break the cycle?

Article 13 formalised a ‘quarterly consultancy’ workshop, delivering briefings on critical business issues to allow for discussion and debate before they present themselves as risks to the business.
