BUPA - facilitation and provision of strategic advice for senior management
Client challenge
BUPA, a global health and care organisation are developing a stakeholder engagement programme to convey their key messages of ‘value, simplicity and quality’. BUPA are 18 months into communicating their story and have identified a need for external input into the process in the form of ideas and challenge. They wanted to ensure their story is reaching their main stakeholders, was and is easy to understand and that is contributing effectively to their strategic objectives.
What did we do?
Article 13 developed a participative process and then facilitated a session at a meeting of BUPA’s senior managers to help the company articulate their story with conviction, engage each stakeholder group and plan the next stages of activity.
Using interactive techniques with breakout groups, Article 13’s specialist facilitator/note taker ran a dynamic session which surfaced participants’ issues, reducing restricted thinking and enabling active ideas generation and ranking.
Using this as input subsequent to the session, Article 13 reviewed and analysed the event transcript for common themes, gaps, risks and opportunities, frustrations and the story Article 13 ‘heard’ at the session. These ideas were presented to the client in a strategic opportunities, threats and gaps report.
Combining Article 13’s extensive stakeholder and communications experience, the report focussed on delivering a strategic opinion of areas to focus on, gaps and what BUPA should be doing to come up with a plan.
How did we break the cycle?
Article 13’s vast experience in facilitation, stakeholder communication and organisational strategy has proven to be invaluable in progressing effective communication of ‘the BUPA story’ to all key stakeholders.
