Corporate social responsibility, governance, substainable development About Article 13

  United Nations Global Compact (UNGC):

The UNGC principles on human and labour rights, the environment and anti-corruption are deeply ingrained throughout Article 13 Group.  As responsible business experts, we pride ourselves on continuously improving our efforts to uphold these corporate citizenship values and advocate the business case to our stakeholders and networks.

We renewed our commitment to the UNGC in mid 2007 by carrying out a review of our company policies and procedures, implementing an overarching sustainability policy to coordinate our activities.  We have also made our diversity and equal opportunityenvironmentintegrity  and  supply chain policies  publicly available.

2007 Communication on Progress!  Each year we report on our activities which come under the UNGC umbrella in a Communication on Progress.  View our latest COP here or visit the UNGC website.

December 2007

NEW - 2007 Environmental Footprint!  In this report, we detail carbon emissions from our activities and highlight the significant improvements we have made on the previous year in terms of electricity usage, fuel consumption, travel emissions and paper consumption.  The resultant carbon footprint has been offset with Climate Care and new targets have been set for this year.

Article 13 is also a member of the UK Network of the UN Global Compact.  Learn more about the network and their activities on their UK network website.

Irrepressible.info - Amnesty International campaign

Article 13 has signed a pledge to spread the word and undermine unwarranted censorship by publishing censored material from Amnesty International's database directly onto the company website.  View this material below or on the sidebar of the our press section.  Our involvement in this campaign reinforces our commitment to international human rights and the UNGC.

Article 13's UNGC Diary 2008:

Each year we get involved in local initiatives, organise events and seek out advocacy opportunities which endorse the UNGC principles.  Keep visiting this area of the webite to see what we have been up to in 2008.  You can also find out what we got up to in 2007.

  • Fairtrade Fortnight 2008 - 25 February to 9 March

Once again, the Article 13 team is taking action in support of Fairtrade Fortnight.  As a company, we already choose fair trade for our caffeine fixes and other standard grocery needs.  As individuals outside the office, we are not always so diligent.  So, this Fairtrade Fortnight, we have pledged to make the fair trade choice a conscious one each time we walk down the aisles of our local supermarkets or add items to our virtual shopping baskets.

We encourage you, as a valued member of our network, to take action this Fairtrade Fortnight.  It might be as straightforward as buying a fair trade coffee or chocolate bar in your next break.  Or it might require some logistical arrangements, such as arranging a fair trade morning tea with your colleagues.  No matter what it is, you will be helping to bring a fairer deal to farmers and producers worldwide.  Learn more about Article 13's focus on fair trade in support of Fairtrade Fortnight 2008.

Transparency and anti-corruption

Article 13 has been focusing on the issues of corruption and bribery, and the importance of tackling these issues for a more transparent and fair corporate environment. Looking at these issues allows us to review our own processes, become more aware of transparency issues, and advocate compliance to the UNGC's tenth principle amongst our wider networks.

We've gathered together some of the main legislation, initiatives and standards on transparency with weblinks to access further information. You can also learn more in an article kindly provided by Article 13 Associate Ghalib N. Jafferji - The consequences for corporate governance and identity of investing in corrupt environments.

Article 13 Group has been awarded the internationally recognised Investor in People and ISO 9001:2000 standards.  We continually strive to enhance processes and systems to ensure we maintain a healthy and motivating working environment with a focus on delivery of quality and innovative products.
