Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust – Analysis of feedback and report on consultation into reconfiguration of Andover War Memorial Hospital
Client challenge
To ensure the Andover War Memorial Hospital remains sustainable and affordable in the future, Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust realised it was necessary to make a number of changes to the way services were delivered.
They, therefore, launched a public consultation, gathering feedback from stakeholders on the preferred way of reconfiguring the hospital. Article 13 was brought in by the Trust to act as an independent research organisation and analyse and summarise the outcome of the consultation.
What did we do?
Article 13 received the consultation feedback in a number of formats, including completed questionnaires and notes taken at drop-in sessions and meetings held with a wide range of groups in the Andover region. Having sorted the responses and set up a comprehensive data analysis framework, Article 13 carried out qualitative and quantitative analysis of the feedback to identify the majority opinions in response to each individual question and key emerging themes.
Using the findings of this research, Article 13 compiled a detailed report presenting the findings. An executive summary was provided at the beginning of the document. The report was published and distributed to interested stakeholders. Article 13 also attended a public meeting marking the end of the consultation to present their independent summary of the report contents and answer queries relating to the research methodology and consultation findings.
How did we break the cycle?
By employing a rigorous approach to the data analysis and report preparation, Article 13 was able to provide assurance of the consultation process and, consequently, reassure people that their views had been equally listened to.
